FLITE

Lead at Speed, Engage Your Team, Achieve Your Objective.
Our FLITE Framework, developed by former U.S. Air Force fighter pilot and strategic advisor Brian “Maddog” Maddocks, is a fast-paced, interactive system that empowers leaders, energizes teams, and drives real results.

“You only learn to fly a jet by flying a jet.” – Maddog

What is FLITE?

FLITE is Leadership in Practice—the execution engine of the Total Engagement System.  It’s a repeatable, high-impact process that moves leadership out of the classroom and into the arena.

Each phase is run in the Common Operating Platform (COP)—your team’s shared workspace for clarity, accountability, and transparency.

Put Leadership into Practice
You only learn to fly a jet by flying a jet…and you only learn to lead by leading. Leadership can only be learned by doing—by stepping into the arena—but you need a system or you’ll crash and burn. We’ve distilled the practice of leadership into five pillars—Focus, Launch, Implement, Track, and Evaluate—that form the practical framework for building engagement.

Engagement is the difference between winning and losing.

How FLITE Works

FLITE is a high-speed, agile leadership execution framework built on five pillars: Focus, Launch, Implement, Track, and Evaluate

Focus

Create the FLITE Plan and build The COP.

Focus

Focus is the planning phase of FLITE where the Team reviews the organization’s mission, defines the team’s objective, builds the FLITE Plan, and creates the COP.

Launch

Brief the FLITE Plan and ensure understanding.

Launch

A meeting to ensure team members clearly understand their tasks and the evaluation criteria, have the resources to accomplish them, and have no obstacles in their way.

Implement

Execute the FLITE Plan… Period.

Implement

Team members accomplish the tasks that were planned during the Focus session. Tasks are complete when evaluation criteria are met.

Track

Continuously update progress using the COP.

Track

Conduct daily “stand up” meetings and continuously update The COP. This information will be used for the debrief in the Evaluate phase.

Evaluate

Review both the process and the products.

Evaluate

The most important phase of the FLITE process. Together, he team reviews the results of the FLITE…the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The COP

The Common Operating Platform is the Truth Source.

The COP

The Common Operating Platform is the tool the team uses to record all information during the FLITE. The COP is the truth source where the work is tracked and evaluated.
